The Corozal Community College came into being as a result of the merger of Fletcher College (Methodist) and Xavier College (Catholic) in 1978. The Belize government through a commonwealth grant financed the construction of several college buildings within the Corozal – San Andres area to house the Corozal Community College. The Corozal Community College is run jointly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and a Board of Governors. Originally four members of the Board were appointed by government; three were representatives of the major Christian denominations; one member was an elected staff representative; and one member represented the Parent-Teachers Association. The Board is now comprised as mandated by the Education Rules 2000. The Principal serves as secretary and is an ex-officio member. The college is administered by a Principal with assistance from two Vice-Principals. The Corozal Community College is determined to do its part in providing the students of the Corozal District with the holistic growth necessary to provide successful citizens. It believes that education should not be static, and that education is vital to protect the strength and virility of democracy. Over the years we have expanded our programs to include the arts and vocational subjects such as Home Economics, Music, Electronic Document Preparation and Management. We offer eighteen subjects at CXC general proficiency level and most of our students are prepared to sit at least eight of these subjects. About 70- 80 % of our students continue on to tertiary institutions.
